Making a business website accessible: what the law requires and what it costs

A business website has to work for someone who uses a keyboard or a screen reader. A plugin in the corner does not replace that.

The law, in general

• The Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Law, and the 2013 service-accessibility regulations.
• Israeli Standard SI 5568, based on WCAG 2.0 level AA.
• An accessibility statement has to be published.
• An inaccessible site exposes the business to a lawsuit.

A plugin alone is not enough

A plugin does not fix the code: alternative text for images, labels on forms, heading order, and keyboard access. Without those, the plugin menu does not make the site accessible.

In January 2025 the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) proposed a one-million-dollar penalty against an accessibility-plugin company, for advertising that the plugin alone makes a website accessible.

NagishLi

NagishLi is a free Israeli plugin from Localize. We use it on our own site. It helps a visitor adjust the display. It does not replace fixing the code.

Market ranges, as of 2026

• A plugin subscription: about 80–100 ₪ a month, or about 500 ₪ a year.
• Manual accessibility work for a small brochure site: about 1,500–4,000 ₪.

The range depends on the number of pages, the forms, and the state of the existing code.

What we offer

• An automatic accessibility plugin plus an accessibility statement: 500–1,500 NIS.
• Full manual AA code accessibility for a brochure or store site: 2,500–6,000 NIS and up, depending on the size of the site.
